Stage 1: Strategy and Brief
- Attend inception meetings with the Client and other members of the Design Team.
- Attend meetings with the Client, Design Team and/or their Project Manager to develop the Lighting
- Preparation of the Lighting Brief.
- Preparation of the Lighting Budget.
- Define scope for Natural Lighting design.
- Define scope for Emergency Lighting design.
- Production of Feasibility and/or Design Reports.
Brief
Stage 2: Concept Proposals
- Attend meetings with the Client, Design Team and/or their Project Manager to discuss the Lighting.
- Attend Design Workshops with all relevant members of the Design Team..
- Carry out survey of site after dark to assess the lit context.
- Develop the Lighting Concept Proposals.
- Produce concept materials to clearly communicate the Lighting Concept to the Client, Design Team and other Stakeholders showing different types of lighting effects and their relationship to structural and architectural elements.
- Project Cost Consultation in reviewing the lighting concept proposals/strategy against the Lighting Cost Plan.
- Review Lighting Concept Proposals in line with the requirement to comply with all statutory and mandatory requirements with respect to local building regulations, codes of practice and health and safety standards as agreed in the Lighting Brief.
- Review Lighting Concept Proposals with regards to energy use and sustainability.
- Present Lighting Concept Proposals to the Client.
- Issue of report summarizing the Lighting Concept incorporating agreed client and design team requirements.

Stage 3: Detailed Proposals
- Attend Design Workshops with all relevant members of the Design Team
- Attend Design/Client Team Meetings
- Develop lighting design to a stage that allows visual, technical and cost of design to be confirmed.
- Prepare Preliminary Lighting Equipment Schedule.
- Prepare Preliminary Lighting Details as appropriate to allow design intent to be understood.
- Prepare Preliminary Lighting Control Strategy.
- Prepare Lighting Calculations to confirm technical viability of design solution.
Stage 4: Detailed Design and Production
- Attend Design Workshops with all relevant members of the Design Team
- Attend Design/Client Team Meetings
- Arrange Lighting Mock-Ups to assist in the development of the design and integration of luminaries.
- 4 Prepare the Final Lighting Scheme Layouts based on frozen architectural CAD information.
- 5 Prepare the Final Lighting Details to assist others with the production of the final co-ordinated construction packages and with the integration of lighting into the fabric of the building and with other services.
- Prepare the Final Lighting Equipment Schedule.
- 7 Prepare the Final Lighting Specification for inclusion within general architectural and electrical specification by others.
- Prepare the Final Performance Specification for the lighting control system and provision of a Logical Control Schedule.
- Attend of cost review meetings.
- Arrange and present samples to the Client and Design team.
- Assist others in ensuring compliance with local Building Codes and Regulations.
- Assist others with reviewing the scheme for assessment under any environmental scoring systems.
Stage 5: Construction, Focusing, Programming & Commissioning
- Review and comment upon final co-ordinated construction information including drawings, schedules and details.
- Attend Site Progress Meetings with all relevant members of the Design and Construction Team.
- Arrange and attend on-site mock-ups to assist in the development of the design and integration of luminaires.
- Attend Value Engineering Workshops during the construction phase.
- Respond to Requests For Information from site during the construction process.
- Attend meetings on site to review and snag the lighting installation and produce a schedule of defects.
- Attend site for the supervision of the focusing/aiming of the completed lighting installation.
- Attend site for the supervision of programming the control system of the completed lighting installation.
- Attend meetings on site for Post-Completion hand over to client and/or operating staff.
